So just as soon as I got all my work done, got my head above water long enough to breathe, and managed to get back here almost every day...

I had to take my computer in to the Apple Store.

Nothing serious-- the connecty thing between the battery and the computer wasn't seated right so sometimes the computer didn't think it had a battery. But it took them several days, leaving me feeling a bit like an amputee.

But it's back... and I'm back!

Oh, god, that's just horrible! My computer is on its last breath, but I'm trying to make it until I can buy a new one (hopefully, a Macbook!).

But I'm glad your computer is back and running.

Glad to hear it wasnt anything major. I remember my computer crashing while I was writing a final paper in college, back then before all the "backing is importand" stuff happened... boy was I screaming at the computer when it crashed on me the night before the paper was due. Shocked

They had me pretty scared for a while. They had trouble figuring out what turned out to be a very simple thing.

But I ended up with a new logic board, so I guess that's good! (They replaced it before they realized all they needed to do was hammer a dent out of a piece of metal.)

All I know about logic boards is that you do NOT want one to fail.

I have no idea about the dent. It was inside the casing and it made it so that the battery wasn't butting up against the receptor properly.

I've got a big dent in the outside of my Mac which is affecting its ability to blow air, apparently. sigh. I found out that a Mac is made of one big piece of metal and it's all interconnected.

Glad you got yours fixed, J! I'm just limping along as is.

OMG, I have to take it back in because now it thinks it doesn't have a camera.

I'm sure when they took it apart they jostled the iSight camera loose.

On the one hand, it's a big fat PITA. On the other, at least it's a mechanical thing. My computer RUNS fine. Everything that has been wrong with it could probably be fixed with duct tape.

In the theater, we use gaff tape instead of duct tape, and let me tell you, gaff tape saves EVERYTHING! It's amazing, and you do not want to be caught without a roll.

My laptop (Toshiba, now four years old) is starting to drag about like a lame donkey or something. It could be all the random sims2 stuff I have on there (and its old and the fan is probably full of chihuahua hair...)

But I just bought a netbook (also toshiba). Its nice and light and I just use it for writing (independent study on classical Japanese literature - yikes!) and using teh interweb. But I love it!

Computers a so poopy. I just took my lappy in cuz the fan was making these horrendous sounds and the best buy guy said "well i'm sure its just off its kilter, bring it back in a month if it's still making that noise". so I had to sit with that crazy noise until my bf could fix it.

Why is technology so mean!? I hope you ladies can get your fixed up all nice, though....
