I just started The Next Best Thing by Kristan Higgins and it's absolutely terrific, right from the very start. But then, that's no surprise for this author, is it? Love her.

I really liked The Next Best Thing, but I have to say I wanted to shake the heroine- not for taking so long to realize her own emotions, but for failing to realize Ethan's emotions.
I would love to see Higgans tackle a more emotionally mature heroine. Her heroines are nominally 30 but they feel about 18 to me (sez she thinking of her college freshman, who has that same obliviousness on occasion...)
Having said that--she's an autobuy for me, I think she has a wonderful unique voice, and she has that small town New England thing absolutely right. And I really love her heroes--Ethan is great. And in many ways so is Lucy--her inability to get over her husband's death makes total sense as does her deep down conviction that she'll kill any other husband, and I love her attachment to her family. Its just her obliviousness (until the end of the book) which I think is also real--but usually a much younger woman (or man).

Almost done with Promise Me Tonight. There are some lovely lovely bits--I think the carriage scene is a classic. And the parents are wonderful--so often there are no parents or at least no mother, or the mother is useful. Lady Weston is great!

Still reading The Summoning which is good, but just isn't hooking me as much as I hoped it would.

I did get sidetracked by Lord Ruin by Carolyn Jewel which was enjoyable. I had issues with both the leads and the plot was a bit hard to follow at times, but there were some amazing emotional moments and declarations of love. I do recommend it.

I'm now reading Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. It's a YA. I'm about 30 pages into it, and I'm already getting sucked in.

Half way through Ravishing in Red by Madeline Hunter! I am very excited! I hope the momentum continues. Not only are Audrianna and Sebastian great, but the secondary characters have me fidgeting in my seat waiting for their stories.

Just finished "Dirty Little Lies" by Julie Leto and thinking of re-reading JQ's Bridgertons. I need a light read that can make me laugh. Who better than JQ or EJ?

Anyone have recommendations, let me know.

I haven't started reading it yet but the book I'm about to begin is "The Truth About Lord Stoneville" by Sabrina Jefferies!! It is the first book in her new Hellions of Halstead Hall series and I'm literally giddy with excitement!!

I've read some pretty incredible books over the past couple of weeks but this is by far my favorite. I don't think I can wait the two weeks for the second in the series to come out, let alone waiting however long before Castleford's story comes out.

Yes, indeed. I believe I'd only read one Madeline Hunter book before the new one, and while I ended up liking it, it took a while for the story to really get interesting to me. Not so with this one - Ravishing in Red had me from page 1. So I'll be looking for Provocative in Pearls on its release date. Wink

Is the 3rd book scheduled for January 2011? Sad

I liked Ravishing in Red and look forward to the rest of the series as well. Ms. Hunter's website says that Celia's story is supposed to be out in fall 2010 and Daphne's in spring 2011. It's a four-book series so I'm assuming Castleford will be Daphne's hero.

I'm at about the same point in this one and really enjoying it!

Thanks for those dates - Fall 2010 for the 3rd and Spring 2011 for the 4th doesn't sound like quite as long a wait.
Thanks for the link!

Thanks, Gingerbread. I asked Madeline herself over on the B&N site and she gave the same info. She said she thinks Dangerous in Diamonds (Daphne's story) will be out somewhere around April.

I asked Madeline if Morgan would have a story and she said that she hasn't one planned for him but never say never.

I also realized that the excerpt in the back of RIR for PIP is different than the one on her website. I really can't wait for this next installment. I haven't been this obsessed about a great series in quite a while. FYI - The videos on her website are awesome.
