New Contest!

August 03, 2010 Thank you for everyone who participated in the fabulous shoe contest and Nook giveaway! I’ve just posted a new contest, so be sure to enter for your chance to win. And please do share with your friends!

Also check out Eloisa’s new photo from last week’s RWA 2010 Literacy Signing in Orlando, Florida!

A Kiss at Midnight is now available!

July 27, 2010 A Kiss at Midnight is in bookstores, waiting for you! I do hope you enjoy my version of Cinderella. The Chicago Tribune labeled it “delectably witty,” so with luck you’ll laugh your way through it, and turn the last page with a sigh.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the Extra Chapters I’ve written for many of my novels—so please jump in and tell me which chapter I need to write for A Kiss at Midnight! Just read the novel in the first month after publication and check in on the Bulletin Board to vote for the chapter I should write.

My fabulous contest—giving away two Nooks— is in its last days, so don’t forget to enter both on this website and by becoming my fan on Facebook, for a chance to win one of these electronic readers!

Do check out the New & Next page: I have some very exciting information about what’s up next—a story out in January and a new novel in December!

Have you explored all the Easter Eggs hidden around the site? I added three new ones just for A Kiss at Midnight—including pictures of my hero and heroine, as well as a picture of one of my favorite characters, Freddie.

Exciting New Contest to Win a Nook!

Two ways to win a nookJuly 5, 2010 The most exciting news is pictured right here on the homepage: my wonderful publisher is giving away two fabulous Barnes & Noble NOOK electronic readers! One is going to a winner of my contest, and one will be given randomly to a fan on my Facebook page (check out the link to the left). Give yourself a double chance!

A Kiss at Midnight pubs July 27 – I’m so excited! Even more so since I got this fabulous review from Publishers’ Weekly, calling Kiss a “delectable Regency reimagining of the Cinderella story… a candy floss comic romp around a core of heartache. James’s deft touch allows the characters to shine through genuinely witty dialogue and an uncluttered plot.”

My new Barnes & Noble column is up and every novel is proven gold – how do I know? Well, because I read them but also because I read the entire RITA finalist list for Young Adult. The RITA is romance’s most prestigious prize, and these are the best YAs published in the past year.

I put up a new Books to Love review—for a novel that may be hard to find, but would be worth the search.

Chapter One of A Kiss at Midnight!

June 7, 2010 Announcing: Chapter One of A Kiss at Midnight! I can’t wait until A Kiss at Midnight pubs on July 27th — and I hope after reading this chapter, you feel the same.

We have a redesigned contest page and a fabulous prize — an ARC (advance reading copy) of A Kiss at Midnight! Plus four runners-up will receive darling shoe ornaments that I picked up in France and England.

Speaking of contests… I have exciting news about next month! My publisher joined forces with Barnes & Noble, and we’ll be giving away two Nooks, B&N’s electronic reader. So be sure to check here and my Facebook page for details.

My new Barnes & Noble column is up, on the allure of oh-so-innocent heroines. Five fabulous romances waiting for you: don’t miss it!

Sneak peek up!

May 3, 2010 I’ve put up a sneak peek at the evil stepmother in my fractured Cinderella, A Kiss at Midnight — coming this August! Do read to see if you don’t feel a sympathetic shiver for my heroine, Kate.

My new Barnes & Noble column is up, called “She’s No Rocket Scientist” — don’t you want to know what THAT’s about? In brief: five terrific romances that you absolutely shouldn’t miss.

I’m having such a good time on Facebook, describing our adventures in Paris and swapping stories with a terrific community there. Lately we’ve discussed bad hair days (I’m having BH month), and favorite kids’ books. If you’re on Facebook, please join us.

I just added a review of one of my favorite Teresa Medeiros novels, A Kiss to Remember, to my Books to Love shelf. If you haven’t read this fabulous romance, do check out the page.

A new cover for A Kiss At Midnight!

April 5, 2010 Look at this beautiful cover for A Kiss at Midnight (pubbing July 27th)! The shoe says it all… this novel is my very own version of Cinderella.

Talking of covers, Pleasure for Pleasure made it into Entertainment Weekly with the rather dubious distinction of having a cover that didn’t match its content — if you’ve read the novel, you know that Josie is decidedly a curvaceous heroine, whereas the cover model was, alas, slender to the point of near death.

My new Barnes & Noble column is up — talking about romances that break society’s biggest rules: whether those are Don’t Sleep with Your Boss, or Don’t Sleep with Anyone (historicals). I’m talking about five fun, terrific novels, so don’t miss it.

I put up a new Books to Love — Christine Warren’s The Demon You Know. This is a really fun paranormal read, so if you like bad boys (the badder the better), do check out my review.

New excerpt!

March 1, 2010 I am very happy to announce that I’ve put up an excerpt from Chapter One of A Kiss at Midnight, my very own Cinderella (pubbing July 27). I hope you enjoy my Cinders-girl… Do stop by next month, because I’ll add a few more pages to the excerpt.

My new B&N column is up — talking about five really fascinating romances that revisit old genres — like Christina Dodd’s swashbuckling In Bed With the Duke, a delicious mix of Robin Hood and The Scarlet Pimpernel.

I just added a new Books to Love ~ Tessa Dare’s A Lady of Persuasion. I really adored this book — if you haven’t had your hands on it yet, don’t hesitate!

I’m revisiting a fun piece in the Readers’ Pages: a discussion of the difference between the Regency and Georgian periods, something I’m thinking about again as I migrate back to the Regency after six Georgian novels.

The Southeast Review just published a long interview with me, so if you’re interested in hearing just about everything I have to say about writing, check here.

Happy Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2010 Happy Valentine’s Day! In honor of the holiday, I wrote a little piece called Of Rice and Men, about my husband and our early courting days… I hope you enjoy it!
